12th July 2022

Football-mad youngsters are being encouraged to sign-up to a packed programme of summer holiday camps across Oxfordshire this month, with limited spaces remaining.

Oxford United in the Community is hosting its popular camps between Monday, July 25, and Friday, August 26, at The Oxford Academy in Littlemore and in partnership with Banbury-based Easington Sports FC.

Each session is packed with fun, engaging and inclusive activities suitable for male and female participants of all playing abilities aged four to 13.

Oxford United in the Community’s experienced and qualified team of coaches will deliver each holiday camp, which teaches football skills and techniques while focusing on the development of agility, balance and coordination.

New for this year is the charity’s two-day ‘Girls Only’ camps which will run at Easington Sports FC between July 28-29, August 11-12 and August 25-26.

Chris Lowes, Head of the Charity, hopes to engage more youngsters this summer than ever before following a successful multi-venue launch in partnership with Easington Sports last year.

“Owing to a fantastic response to our most recent Summer and Easter Holiday Camps, we are pleased to confirm this year’s programme has been extended,” said Chris. “The number of girls booking onto our camps has grown exponentially in recent years, which is testament to the growth and development of the women’s game.

“It’s important we accommodate for this by introducing Girls Only sessions which will take our summer camp delivery to the next level.

“The sessions are designed to keep children active through football-based challenges and activities which promote the development of key life skills including teamwork, communication and problem solving.

“Spaces for each camp are limited, so I would encourage parents wishing to book either a session or a full week of activities to do so now and reserve a space. We look forward to welcoming everyone pitch side!”
