Schoolchildren in Oxfordshire will be able to unlock free football training this summer thanks to a new partnership between Oxford United in the Community and cereal giants Kellogg’s.
The football club’s official charity has launched 600 funded days at its summer holiday camps which will be delivered in Oxford, Kidlington and Banbury throughout August.
Sessions are open to football-mad youngsters aged 5-13 – location dependent – of all playing experiences and abilities with the charity’s team of community coaches teaching new skills while emphasising the importance of teamwork, communication and problem solving.
Matt Everett, CEO of Oxford United in the Community, urged parents and carers in the county to take advantage of the offer.
“A big part of our operation is to support the provision of football-based opportunities for young people in Oxfordshire,” said Matt. “We know accessing playing and training provisions can be challenging for families, especially with the ongoing cost of living crisis.
“Launching 600 free spaces in partnership with Kellogg’s is a positive step to ensuring every child can stay active, develop new skills and make friends during this year’s summer break.
“We’d like to thank our partner clubs Easington Sports and Kidlington Youth FC for enabling us to offer spaces at these venues as well, giving opportunities to people who cannot get to our Oxford camps.
“Our holiday camps are always popular and open to participants of all abilities. So, we’d encourage families who want to claim their free space to sign-up as soon as possible and our team looks forward to seeing you on the touch line this summer.”
The move forms part of a national campaign where Kellogg’s will give away 30,000 free places at holiday camps delivered by charitable trusts of Premier League, EFL and Scottish football clubs.
Parents and carers in Oxfordshire can claim two free tokens per household by purchasing promotional packs between now and Monday, June 24, or visiting a dedicated website launched by Kellogg’s.
Tokens will be valid at all three of Oxford United in the Community’s summer camps held on selected dates at The Oxford Academy, Kidlington Youth FC and Easington Sports FC in Banbury. Full details of Kellogg’s Camps in Oxfordshire, delivered by Oxford United in the Community are as follows:

Debbie Cook, Director of Community at the EFL, added: “One of the many strengths of the EFL is we can provide football camps for children at the heart of communities up and down the country.
“We’re pleased to join Kellogg’s to continue not only creating stronger, healthier and more active communities, but also provide environments where children can forge long-lasting friendships through football.”
