Football-mad youngsters in Oxfordshire are being encouraged to sign-up to Oxford United in the Community’s May half-term holiday camps which launch in Oxford and Kidlington this month.
The football club’s official charity will operate mixed gender and girls only sessions at The Oxford Academy in Littlemore while Kidlington Youth FC runs its second camps following a record-breaking turnout during Easter.
Sessions are suitable to players of all abilities aged five to 13 (five to 11 for Kidlington camps) with the charity’s team of experienced and qualified coaches teaching new football skills and techniques while creating new connections in a fun and supportive environment.
All camps kick-off on Tuesday, May 28, and run for four days with spaces available to book now via the Oxford United in the Community website.
Profits from each camp will be reinvested back into the charity’s work to inspire happier, healthier and better-connected communities through its community programmes and initiatives.
Rob Porter, Lead Community Coach at Oxford United in the Community, encouraged parents and carers to book their place soon to avoid disappointment.
“Our Easter camps were a huge success, with a record number of young players enjoying our sessions,” said Rob. “It’s been pleasing to see numbers rise term-by-term as part of our vision to enhancing the provision of football-based opportunities across the county with the support of our partner centres and clubs.
“We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Kidlington Youth FC which will extend into the summer holidays too and deliver our girls only sessions which have proven popular since their launch last year.
“Spaces fill up quickly, so we’d encourage parents and carers to book in early to guarantee a spot and we thank them in advance for their role in helping us bring the best out of those we work with through our football-based programmes.”
All Oxford United in the Community coaches are FA qualified and have up to date safeguarding, first-aid training and CRC checks. Children need to bring their own football kit, including shin-pads, boots, trainers, plus lunch and drinks.
