Oxford United’s newly appointed Business Development Analyst and former player Sam Baldock has been confirmed as the Manor Club’s guest for December.
The striker called time on his 18-year playing career in September owing to injury and now works behind the scenes at the club he grew up supporting.
Sam made over 350 appearances, scoring over 100 goals, since making his professional debut in 2005 with MK Dons before representing the likes of West Ham, Bristol City, Brighton, Reading and Derby.
He’ll reflect on this and his new role with his boyhood club when taking to the stage at Cowley Workers Social Club on Wednesday, December 6, for the latest instalment of the Manor Club for the Over 50s organised by Oxford United in the Community.
Sam said: “Oxford United was my boyhood club, so to end my career here and start my transition into work outside the football pitch has been special.
“The club holds a lot of memories for me both as a supporter and player and I look forward to discussing this more at next month’s Manor Club.
“No doubt there’ll be a few familiar faces on the floor and if you haven’t purchased your tickets already I’d love to see you on the day.”
Launched in 2017, The Manor Club is a monthly social outlet for United fans aged 50 or older with the primary purpose of linking likeminded people to help tackle feelings of loneliness.
Cameron Brannagan and Robbie Hall are among the guests to have already appeared this season.
Tickets are available to purchase now via the club’s ticket office, online from www.oufctickets.co.uk or by calling 01865 337533. Tickets are priced £7 and will remain on sale until midday on Monday, December 4.
Doors open at 11.30am and admission includes a buffet lunch.
