A young Oxford United fan had a day to remember when presenting the club’s Player of the Month award for March to winger Josh Murphy – thanks to New Home Improvement Group!
Arthur was nominated by the home and building experts for his commitment and personal development during Oxford United in the Community’s Premier League Primary Stars sessions – which are delivered at his school.
The programme is delivered by the charity’s team of community coaches and programme leads across Oxfordshire and inspires children aged five to 11 to be active while developing key life skills.
Fun, practical, sessions are mixed with building participants’ confidence in areas such as PSHE, PE, Maths and English with resources created in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
Arthur presented the award to Josh pitch side ahead of United’s 4-0 win over Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday.
Rob Porter, Lead Community Coach at Oxford United in the Community, said: “Arthur’s progress both on the pitch and academically has been excellent to witness.
“He’s thrived during our Premier League Primary Stars sessions and has taken his reading and writing skills to the next level with guidance from our coaches who set a short story competition where participants were free to write about their personal interests.
“Arthur’s story underlines to us how football and the power of the Oxford United badge can inspire people to become the best version of themselves and accomplish new achievements.
“We’re also thankful to New Home Improvement Group for their continued support by providing this opportunity to participants on our programmes who go the extra mile.”
Based in Wallingford, New Home Improvement Group has donated the Player of the Month presentation to Oxford United in the Community to recognise well-deserving people.
The charity chooses a person its team works with as a way of thanking them for making a difference to its operation.
Rob added: “Arthur’s face was priceless when he was told he would be presenting the Player of the Month award.
“It was one of those moments he’ll never forget – which personally I love. Having New Home Improvement Group open up its Player of the Month presentation to people who deserve recognition for their hard work and perseverance has been really well received and we’re pleased Arthur had a memorable day.”
