Oxford United in the Community is pleased to confirm Social Inclusion Lead Mark Thomas has been appointed as the charity’s Community Captain.

The appointment has been made as part of the Premier League’s Wider Football and Communities campaign, which shines a light of the impact of investments made by the Premier League on communities and individuals.

Mark has been a member of the Oxford United in the Community team since 2022, and has been instrumental in leading our Premier League Kicks provision. His dedication and passion for community engagement is ever-present in his efforts to foster trust and rapport with participants on our programmes.

In addition, his commitment to supporting individuals – especially those at risk of exclusion from school – has earned him admiration and respect in communities across Oxfordshire.

Mark said: “Being able to make a difference to participants through our community programmes is hugely rewarding.

“Without support from our key partners, donors, fundraisers and Oxford United supporters, none of our programmes would be possible to deliver so we thank of them for their continued support.

“As Community Captain, it’s my role to continue positively impacting participants we engage with and inspiring happier, healthier and better-connected communities in Oxfordshire through the power of football.”
