Oxford United in the Community’s Manor Club for the Over 50s returns for the first time in 2024 next week – with attacking midfielder Marcus Browne confirmed as star guest!
The 26-year-old made his United debut five seasons ago while on loan from boyhood club West Ham and has appeared 81 times since, scoring 19 goals.
He’ll now take to the stage from midday at Cowley Workers Social Club on Wednesday, February 7, to discuss his career to date, ambitions for the future and interests off the pitch in the company of hosts Roger Hiscock and Peter Rhoades-Brown.
It’s the latest event organised by the football club’s official charity in what has been a record-breaking year for the Manor Club. Guests already this season have included Cameron Brannagan, Sam Baldock and Robbie Hall.
And new Oxford United in the Community CEO Matt Everett hopes to see another positive turnout.
“The Manor Club has been a huge success this year with attendances at their highest since it was launched seven years ago,” said Matt. “Its primary purpose is to provide an outlet for senior U’s fans to meet and socialise every month as part of our commitment to inspiring happier, healthier and better-connected communities.
“Football – and sport generally – has a huge power to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together and allows people to make new connections and memories.
“Connecting supporters with each other outside of matchdays – and even the Manor Club itself – is one of our key goals to encourage those likeminded conversations which can make all the difference to a person’s day.
“We thank Marcus for agreeing to be our first guest of the year and look forward to seeing him on the 7th!”
