Robbie Hall – famous for scoring a long-range winner in Oxford United’s come-from-behind win against Swindon Town in 2017 – has been confirmed as the Manor Club’s October guest.
The 29-year-old forward will appear at Cowley Workers Social Club on Wednesday, October 4, when the popular social outlet for United fans aged 50 and older returns for its second event of the season.
Born locally in Aylesbury, Robbie has over 220 professional appearances to his name and represented United under Michael Appleton, Pep Clotet, Derek Fazackerley and Karl Robinson during his five-year spell with the club which ended in 2021.
He now plays for Hampton and Richmond Borough in National League South and will talk about his career to date, route into the game and more in the company of club legend and Oxford United in the Community patron Peter Rhoades-Brown.
Robbie said he’s excited to reconnect with United’s passionate supporters and reveal more about his time with the club when making his Manor Club debut.
“Oxford United is a special club for me,” said Robbie. “I played some of my most memorable matches here and have moments which will stay with me throughout my career.
“The win at Swindon was an obvious highlight as the energy in the away end that afternoon was electric. I’m sure there’ll be more than enough opportunities to talk about that and more on the day.
“I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces so if you haven’t already purchased your tickets and want to be part of the event then get in touch with the team today.”
This year’s Manor Club launched with the help of United midfielder Cameron Brannagan who delved into his career with Liverpool, revisited the 2022 transfer deadline day and revealed more about his enthusiasm for fishing outside the football field.
His appearance attracted a bumper audience and Chris Lowes, Head of Charity at Oxford United in the Community, was pleased to unite the club’s older fanbase.
“In addition to being a great social outlet, the Manor Club’s primary purpose is to unite and connect older supporters who could potentially be at risk of experiencing feelings of loneliness,” said Chris. “Loneliness is a topic which often isn’t discussed despite an estimated 3.8million adults in the UK experiencing chronic loneliness every year.
“The Manor Club is fun, interactive and we can guarantee you’ll have a laugh in the company of good, likeminded, people and equally great conversation. A big thank you to Robbie for taking time out of his schedule to be our next guest and we look forward to hearing more of his stories.”
