Oxford United in the Community awarded two tickets to pupils at St Frideswide School who won a creative writing competition ahead of the club’s season finale against Accrington.
The tickets were provided by the Yellows’ community charity via its countywide Premier League Primary Stars scheme.
The most recent initiative was a creative writing competition in which children had six weeks to plan, write and submit their stories with the help of the community team.
Rob Porter, Lead Coach at OUitC, was responsible for judging the entries and selecting the winner.
He said “Premier League Primary Stars is a great scheme delivering support in the classroom and physical education and we are proud to be a provider to primary schools in Oxfordshire.
“Our creative writing competition was great fun and allowed our team to provide literacy support to pupils across the county. It was a pleasure to see a wide range of quality entries, and we’d like to congratulate the worthy winner from St Frideswide’s.
“We hope they enjoyed the special day, and we look forward to continuing our delivery of Premier League Primary Stars work to support pupils academically and physically.”
Premier League Primary Stars seeks to use the appeal of the Premier League and professional football to inspire children to be active and support their educational attainment through enrichment resources in Maths, English, PSHE and PE.
Oxford United in the Community participates in the scheme to deliver a range of activities to primary schools in Oxfordshire- including the physical delivery of PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs, PSHE workshops as well as literacy and numeracy support.
