Teenagers looking to strengthen their CV or UCAS application this summer are encouraged to sign up to Oxford United in the Community’s National Citizen Service programme.
The two-week course – which starts on Monday, August 9, and runs until Friday, August 20 – is designed for teenagers aged 16 or 17 to help them establish a clear idea of what they want from their future via independent challenges, team activities and workshops.
Delivered in partnership with the EFL Trust, spaces on our upcoming NCS programme are supported by the Government and promote essential life skills such as teamwork, organisation and project planning.
The course will be based at The King’s Centre in Osney Mead, Oxford, but include external activities including a visit to Hill End Outdoor Education Centre, resilience workshops, community exploration and financial education.
Participants will end the programme by planning and delivering a social action project of their choice.
Aled Newton, NCS Programme Manager at Oxford United in the Community, said: “NCS programmes provide teenagers with a fantastic opportunity to learn valuable life skills which can be applied to the real world.
“This is done in a fun and relaxing environment where they can meet new people, build friendships and help make a positive impact on their local community.
“Completing the course also looks great on a CV or UCAS statement. We’re excited to host our second NCS summer programme and look forward to meeting everyone soon.”
Our latest NCS programme is the fourth that we have delivered since we were awarded the contract in partnership with the EFL Trust.
In July, 24 teenagers completed our latest programme packed with fun activities aimed to benefit youngsters’ personal and social development.
One participant who completed the programme said: “The two-week programme was an amazing experience, and I loved every minute of it.
“The Oxford United in the Community team made it so enjoyable and what we learnt was so valuable in many ways. It was great to make new friends while doing something worthwhile in the local community and having fun at the same time.”
Aled added: “The programmes mirror our strategy and key objectives to engage with people and inspire them to be the best versions of themselves.
“Spaces are limited so I would encourage anyone interested in signing up to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
“Despite the Government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we still adhere to the latest guidance to ensure safety of participants and their families is our highest priority.”
If you are aged 16 or 17 and want to enrol into our upcoming NCS programme, please visit Grab your spot | National Citizen Service (wearencs.com) and follow the sign-up details. Alternatively, you can email Aled directly via [email protected].
Each day on the NCS programme runs between 9am and 4pm. Participants will be entitled to a morning off on Thursday, August 12, to collect GCSE results.
